The Camp and landing is on private land - Manson Ranginui from DOC Pipiriki sorted permission (it's his uncles property). From Camp head north through the paddock up to the forested ridge toward CM78RIDGESTART (E1786112 N5611747). Follow the ridge - it turns further west at CM78RIDGETURN (E1786065 N5611785). Keep following the ridge for another approximately 300m until it flattens out. Make sure you turn down the southern ridge at CM78RIDGE(E1785622 N5611504). Follow this for approximately 200m until you hit CM78PLOTRIDGE (E1785840 N5611252). Beyond this the ridge gets extremely steep. Follow track up to Longview hut and continue along the ridge past Rocky knob. 1.3km along the track from Rocky knob, find BIO TRACK START TRAP BOX by the DOC trap box and leave the main walking track. Walk through the tussock and leatherwood aiming for BIO TRACK 1. There is a cut track for the bio monitoring line. Follow the monitoring line to BIO TRACK 2 and 3. Once the track leaves the tops, it drops steeply down through the bush following the marked bio track. The track comes out behind Top Gorge hut. From the hut walk down Pohangina river with multiple stream crossings to a permolat tree at PERMOLAT. Climb up the face on the true right of the river approx. 150m altitude to plot. NOTE: Do not attempt to find your own way down from the ridge route to Pohangina river. The travel is incredibly difficult and slow. There is a sign post at Longview hut for a river route down to Top Gorge hut in 1.5 hours. Stream travel is slow and would be unsafe around heavy rainfall.
